It is the last weekend of another month. Here is how my weekend went, starting with Friday.
I started Friday morning at our school district "wellness center" to get some routine blood work done. Our district requires all employees to get a minimal annual health screening (including blood work) in order not to have our health insurance rates go up.
Thursday night, I had a bad episode of Tachycardia (abnormally rapid heart rate) that lasted for a couple of hours. In addition to the bloodwork, the doctor at the wellness center listened to my heart and said it sounded strong, steady and regular, and my heart rate was not elevated. He suggested that I get in touch with my primary care physician for further investigation. I called my PCP and got an appointment for Monday afternoon. I felt much better on Friday night and did not have any Tachycardia.
I had the results of some of my bloodwork by Friday night and the rest by Saturday morning. Everything checked out. I do not have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or any sign of diabetes. I've also lost a few pounds. 😊
Friday we had a teacher training and planning day. I went to school Friday, right after the getting my blood drawn, and the morning meetings had already started. After the meetings, we had the afternoon to grade and work on lesson plans.
I made sliders again for Friday night dinner. We all enjoyed them so much last week, that Charly bought more slider buns and we enjoyed them again.
We had fries, green salad and baby carrots with the sliders. They made a good Friday night dinner.
Saturday morning, Charly and I went on our walk as soon as we got dressed. Their were signs of spring everywhere including these lovely hyacinths that are out in bloom.
I went to the library and picked up another book that was on hold, The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James. I have read other books by this author so I was excited to read this on. These are the two books I am reading this week. I am having a hard time getting into My Friend Anna, so I will probably put it aside and concentrate on the mystery/suspense book.
We went over to our rental house and put fertilizer on the lawn. The renters had left large pieces of plywood lying on the front lawn (Why???) and the grass underneath is not doing well. We moved the boards and are contacting our property manager so she can get a message to the tenants telling them this is NOT OK. We may actually be selling the condominium/townhouse where we currently live (either this year or next year) and be moving back into our house, so we don't want the lawn to be completely dead. The plan, at this point at least, is to renovate that home so we can sell it for top dollar, then move to another location in a different state when we retire. Right now, we are looking at locations in California, Colorado and Texas, and will be visiting all of those locations later this year.
Saturday afternoon, we attended a super long and boring annual meeting for our HOA (Homeowners Association). Charly even ran for a spot on the HOA board, but he wasn't elected. That's OK, because we plan to sell our condo and move back into our house either this summer or next.
Saturday evening, we had Domino's Pizza and Salad for dinner. The pizza was disappointing. We may not go to Domino's again for a while. The salad was good.
Sunday morning, Charly and I went for a walk before watching church online. It was a beautiful, spring morning - not too warm - but not at all chilly. There was a slight breeze blowing.
Church was a conference of several congregations (Stake Conference). I watched on Youtube. Josh went in person. I rode my exercise bike while listening to the conference. I also did some indexing of early 1900s birth records from Wisconsin.
Sunday afternoon, I took a little nap, then did some reading. I wrote out some voter postcards. I commited to write 100 postcards and I haven't even finished the first 25. Fortunately a have until the end of May to finish this project, and at least I got started.
Sunday dinner was tacos at Josh's request. That's fine with me. Tacos are yummy and easy. After dinner, Charly and I took another walk. It was 75 degrees and cloudy - too warm for a jacket.
The rest of this evening, I plan to do some reading and possibly watch a little TV if something good is on.
- Good results from the bloodwork I had done on Friday
- This will be the last week of school before spring break
- Josh will be graduating from Ensign College soon - like the week after next!
- Josh is finishing up his housing application so he can go to BYU-Idaho.
