Snoop Dogg joined the Howard Stern Show on Tuesday morning to talk about his new gospel album Bible of Love and TBS game show The Joker's Wild, which he hosts and executives produces. But Snoop also managed to share some of his crazier celebrity stories, including accidentally getting Martha Stewart stoned, and 2Pac turning up at SNL with some weed and Madonna.
Though marijuana is a cornerstone of Snoop's brand, it wasn't always easy for him to find. One time, while he was hosting SNL in the early 90s, he called 2Pac to see if he could score some weed. Pac not only came through with a bag but also brought Madonna, which was the first time Snoop met her (Snoop also shared that this was the first time he told this story).
"She looks at me, I look at her. I say, 'Oh wow. That's Madonna.'"
Snoop and 2Pac had previously met at the wrap party for the film Poetic Justice, which 2Pac starred in. During the party, Pac decided to perform for the crowd. Snoop decided to do the same thing, and what looked like a rap battle ensued. But if there was any tension, a shared blunt ended it.
"I smoked my first blunt with 2Pac," Snoop told Howard. "I'd never smoked a blunt before. I was smoking joints."
His friendship with 2Pac makes a bit more sense than Snoop's friendships with Martha Stewart, though. Martha and Snoop have been friends for years, ever since Snoop went on her daytime TV show a few years back. "That's my homegirl," Snoop said.
But in 2015, Snoop believes he accidentally gave Martha a contact high during Justin Bieber's Comedy Central Roast.
"By the time she gets up there to tell her jokes, she's whacked out of her head but she steals the fucking show," Snoop told Howard. "She was loose as a goose, high as a motherfucker, and she went up there and killed it."
Following the incident, the two went on to create the VH1 series Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, which debuted in 2016.
Snoop also shared that he thinks Katy Perry is a G for the 2010 track "California Gurls," which he featured on. Around the time of that song, in 2009, Jay Z and Alicia Keys' song "Empire State of Mind" was a major hit, but Katy was tired of that song and wanted to make something for the West Coast.
"I thought that was gangsta that she felt that way," Snoop said about Katy.
