Swoon.
The make-up at McQueen is also worthy of note. Lashes are back according to Pat McGrath. I am in love with this. It feeds off Summer's obsession with pearly lightful glowing skin. (Time to ditch the matte foundation girls!) and adds striking contrast with those furry lashes! I am really hoping this means that there will be some amazing false lashes to buy on the high street soon. I really miss amazing lashes!
"It's futurism mixed with nature," Pat McGrath said of the two gasp-inducing looks she devised for the show. "We decided to do the owl world in a punk eye makeup way."
So how to get the effect? Well, the first thing with the foundation is highlight. Highlighter in the form of a liquid to mix under or with foundation. I would then add a dewy foundation over the top before adding a cream or liquid highlighter in a high shine and light color. I am thinking Luna Cream Color Base from MAC would be perfect for anyone with a fair skin tone or Improper Copper Cream Color base for those with a darker skin tone. Don't forget that both Benefit and Make-Up Forever do excellent highlighters but to it has to be cream or liquid as powder is too granule based.
I can't tell you how to make the lashes but I have made my own lashes in the past by cutting feathers and using (a safe) glue to hold them to the lash line. These are covering the brow but not the lash line which you can see when the model looks down. If you do decide to go down this line and make your own just be careful of two things. (1) becareful that you buy really really safe glue like Duo Adhesive and (2) cut and remove anything that can fall into or scratch your eyes. I cut the stalks off the feathers before I glued them so they were soft and non threatening!
McGrath also used soft metallics on the eyes to add a futuristic effect but also some reds and browns to create a gothic soft effect.
This is just gorgeous. It's been ages, if at all, that I have raved about the make-up style of an Alexander McQueen show. Bravo!
