Someone broke into a car parked on Park Vista Road on May 19 and stole $64,000 worth of jewelry that had been left inside. The owners had taken the jewelry out of a safe deposit box for an event, then left the jewelry in a bag under the seat overnight, so as not to forget it when they left the next morning. The stolen items included a diamond engagement ring, a gold watch, a diamond and sapphire bracelet, and a pair of diamond and stud earrings. There were no signs of forced entry.
On May 18 a thief stole a wallet out of an unattended purse in a shopping cart at Trader Joe’s market on Canwood Street. The wallet contained a driver’s license, cash, credit cards and gift cards. The stolen items were worth $270.
Calabasas
A vandal cracked the window of a car parked outside Dig Cycle & Strength on Las Virgenes Road on May 20, causing $1,400 in damage. Another vehicle in the same parking lot was burglarized around the same time. The culprit smashed the passenger window, causing an unknown amount of damage, and stole a laptop and a bag of athletic clothing. The items were worth $1,600.
Someone broke into a car parked at Malibu Creek State Park on May 18 and stole two iPhones, a laptop and a wallet which contained cash, and credit and debit cards. The stolen items were worth over $2,600. There were no signs of forced entry.
On May 17 a thief stole the contents of several packages that were delivered to an apartment on Las Virgenes Road. The packages had been left by the complex’s mailboxes and contained a bottle of medicine, bedsheets, underwear and socks. The items were worth $170.
A burglar broke into a unit at the Public Storage on Ventura Boulevard between May 5 and 17. An $800 keyboard amplifier was stolen.
Someone broke into a home on Parkmor Road on May 17 by forcing open the front door, causing $1,500 in damage. The thief ransacked the home and stole a safe out of the master bedroom closet. The safe contained various personal items. The stolen property was worth $5,000.
A burglar broke into Menchies Frozen Yogurt in the Commons on May 16. The culprit smashed the glass front door, causing an unknown amount of damage. The drawers were removed from the cash registers and a safe box was emptied. It’s unclear how much was taken.
On May 16 someone burglarized a car parked outside the Erewhon Market on Agoura Road. The owner had lost his keys and checked his car to find that someone had gotten into the previously locked car. The thief stole a backpack as well as a wallet, which contained debit and credit cards, and the car keys. The stolen items were worth $150.
On May 14 burglars broke into Jersey Mike’s Subs on Agoura Road by shattering the front door, causing $200 in damage. Security footage showed two men perpetrated the crime. They attempted to take the cash register, which was empty, but were unsuccessful, and left the business within five minutes of breaking in without taking anything.
A man stole six bottles of Tom Ford Fragrances from the Sephora in the Commons on May 13. Security footage shows the man coming into the store, picking up the items and immediately walking out. The property was worth over $900.
